The Mountain Mission Soup Kitchen Turns One

Mountain Mission, Inc. has been helping people in need in the Kanawha Valley for 91 years, and TMG has been honored to help celebrate many milestones with the non-profit over the years. One of those milestones is the first anniversary of the Mountain Mission Soup Kitchen, located just a block away from their main office in Charleston.

This has been a project that was very near to John Roberts, the Executive Director of Mountain Mission. He had a vision for the soup kitchen for several years because he knew it was a service that was needed in this part of the city.

Today, the organization celebrates the success of its newest program as it is feeding an average of 200 people daily. They have been serving guests restaurant-style from the beginning because they want the soup kitchen to be a warm and inviting place for people to come get a warm meal. They also want to treat guests with respect because they believe a small act of kindness could make a huge impact on someone’s life. Of course, none of this would be possible without the employees of Mountain Mission as well as volunteers and the continued financial support from the community.

At TMG, we use the phrase “Do good work,” and we believe it’s organizations like Mountain Mission that make Charleston such a great place to call home. We are proud of the work they are doing in our community and are excited to be part of such a great team.

Congratulations and keep up the great work, Mountain Mission!
